Player and Spectator Safety is our top priority at the Brentwood Invitational. Here are just a few of things to anticipate.
1. Water Breaks: Based on lower temperatures and humidity forecast for this weekend we have opted to suspend water breaks for the tournament. If the heat index should increase to unsafe levels, we may direct water break(s) of up to one minute mid-way through each half will be required. The clock will continue to run during this stoppage.
2. Lightning Detection and Warning System: Crockett Park is equipped with a Lightning Warning system. If activated, a loudspeaker announcement will be heard - "Lightning has been detected in the area. Please seek shelter immediately." If this occurs, play will be stopped and we will require that all people evacuate the park to seek shelter in the cars. A follow-up announcement will be given in 15 minutes. It lightning is still a threat, the same announcement will be played. If lightning is no longer a threat, an "All Clear" announcement will be heard. We will utilize the OneCallNow calling system to update Coaches and Managers of the park status.
3. Goal Anchoring: All goals will anchored with metal stakes. Please inform your players to refrain from hanging on the crossbar of any goal.
4. Onsite EMTs & Trainers: Our Injury Support Team consists of Trainers from Baptist Sports Medicine that will available to tend to Level One injuries such as sprains, strains, heat related concerns, and the like. For more serious injuries, an ambulance from Williamson County Medical Center along with bike-patrolling EMTs will be available onsite and ready to help.
5. Team Tents: Each field will be equipped with a 10x10 team tent provided by Publix Supermarkets. This will provide much needed shade for players, coaches and staff.
