BRENTWOOD SOCCER CLUB TOURNAMENT
IS A BOON FOR THE CITY
BRENTWOOD, Tenn.— The City of Brentwood can anticipate widespread benefits from the annual Brentwood Invitational held in Crockett Park August 27 – 29, tournament officials announced today.
The soccer tournament fields nearly 100 teams of 8 to 17 year-old boys and 9 and 10 year-old girls competing in hundreds of games over the weekend in the heart of Brentwood. In addition to the players and coaches, thousands of family members will be in attendance.
Over 30 of the participating teams will travel from outside the Middle Tennessee area, including East and West Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky and Indiana. This influx of visitors makes the Brentwood Invitational each fall and the Brentwood Soccer Club Adidas Women’s Invitational in the spring, two of the largest tourism and economic booster events of the year for the City of Brentwood and its merchants.
“The Brentwood Soccer Club is proud to host such a well-attended event and for it to be an asset to our community,” said Hans Hobson, director of coaching at Brentwood Soccer Club. “While the athletes look can forward to competing in an early season tournament to showcase their talents, Brentwood and Williamson County can look forward to the economic benefit from the visitors’ use of hotels, restaurants, historic attractions, movie theatres, gas stations, shops and grocery stores.”
It is anticipated that more than 400 hotel rooms will be booked for the two nights in late August, many of those within the Brentwood city limits. Last year, estimates indicated the tournament weekend brought in several hundreds of thousands of dollars in new spending in the county. This year, there are more teams participating than last.
“This continued growth of both the boys’ and girls’ tournaments equals greater economic impact for Brentwood,” concluded Hobson. “The City is so helpful to the Club all year with the use of Crockett and Tower Parks; we are pleased to be able to give something back.”
Hobson also noted that the players and their families who may not have otherwise visited the area now have the chance to see the sights of beautiful Williamson County as a result of the Brentwood Invitational.
The Brentwood Soccer Club represents local talent from Brentwood and Williamson County regionally and nationally through ongoing practices and competition and offers youth from age 8 to 19 years the opportunity to be part of some 50 advanced soccer teams.
