Born and raised in Genoa, Italy, Marco played select, H.S. and college soccer. He was employed for 10 years (1990-2000) as a physical education teacher and head soccer coach of the American International School of Genoa and was on the Coaching Staff (1989-1995) of the Italian Professional Soccer team Genoa Football Club 1893 (the first soccer team in the history of Italian soccer and 9 times Italian Champion).
Marco has 18 years of coaching experience in Italy and the U.S. with boys and girls teams of all ages between U6 and U19. He has coached teams in all divisions and level of competition. He was on the TSSA Olympic Development Program Coaching Staff and has also 4 years of experience as a Director of Coaching.
He is also very well liked by his players, the parents and his peers. In the words of the players, "Marco makes practice fun!"
