About Brentwood Soccer Club
The Brentwood Soccer Club has been established since 1985. Operating under the auspices of the Tennessee State Soccer Association (TSSA, an affiliate of the United States Youth Soccer Association – USYSA), the Brentwood Soccer Club administers Brentwood’s Select Soccer program which provides a format for the youth player wishing to receive advanced soccer training and competition.Through participation in the Brentwood Soccer Club players will be given the opportunity to improve their individual and team soccer skills, compete against other skilled players, be eligible for the regional, state, and national Olympic Development Programs (ODP), and improve their chances of playing for their middle school, high school and college soccer teams.
The Brentwood Soccer Club consists of around 50 boys and girls teams in single-age groups ranging from Under-9 to Under-19 years of age. The Brentwood Soccer Club is an independent non-profit organization run by its Board of Directors (one board member elected from each team) and managed by its executive officers (elected during the Club’s Annual Meeting).
Season
The select soccer year begins August 1 of each year and runs through late May (or early June). The soccer year has three seasons – Fall, Winter and Spring. The fall season generally runs from the beginning of August through Thanksgiving. In the winter season (January through March) teams generally practice and play indoor, with many teams making winter season participation voluntary. The spring season begins in early March and runs through late May or early June, with following year try-outs held at the end of the season.
As team try-outs are generally conducted only once a year, players accepted into the Select Soccer program are expected to remain in the program through the full soccer year.
Practices
The majority of teams for the BWSC train at the beautiful Crockett Park facilities and under the lights at Tower Park. During the fall and spring seasons most teams practice twice a week for 1½ hours per session – although frequency and duration is entirely the coaches decision. Some coaches practice once during the week and once on Saturdays. In the winter season, training sessions are arranged by the individual coaches.
